What is Belkyra / Kybella?
Belkyra works on the basis of deoxycholinic acid, a substance that is naturally present in our body and is responsible for breaking down fats. And because a double chin is often mainly too much fatty tissue, this acid helps to get rid of the fat cells in your double chin. Once those fat cells are gone, they stay away.
As we age, the skin around the chin and in the neck begins to sag and is losing its elasticity. If you want to lift the loose skin, you can also opt for another non-surgical option, which is known as thread lifting.
What happens during a Belkyra / Kybella treatment?

Then the doctor will inject the product into the fatty tissue (These are just a few small pricks) which take about 30 minutes in total. At Essential Aesthetics, we understand and care for you and know that many patients fear the pain of the injections. For that reason, we take the time to anaesthetize your skin, so that you feel practically nothing during the treatment. To get the best result, you need an average of 3 to 4 treatments. Result
It is normal to sometimes have a swollen and maybe red under chin straight after the treatment. Some patients get bruises that go vanish on their own. The extent of this depends on the health of your skin. Cooling well after the treatment helps to reduce swelling and possible afterpain. Because of the swelling your under chin may seem thicker the first week, this will disappear by itself. After about six to eight weeks you will see the final result and can undergo the next treatment.
Keep in mind NOT TO USE any blood thinning medication one week before the treatment. It is also better not to use any cream or make-up the evening before the treatment and on the day itself.
