Nose correction

About rhinoplasty

Our nose determines to a large extent how happy we are with our face. A crooked, crooked, oversized or upturned nose can disturb the balance in our face. Are you dissatisfied with your nose and do you want a straight, smaller nose? Or are you dissatisfied with your nose and don't know exactly what is possible? At Essential Aesthetics our doctors are happy to help you. Correcting the nose is called rhinoplasty or nasal plastic. Many corrections are possible with surgery; a correction of the bony or cartilaginous nasal skeleton, of the nose tip or nostrils. Did you know that it is also possible to get a straight nose with fillers?

A straighter nose with fillers

Minor rhinoplasties can have a great impact. It is very well possible to straighten your nose with the use of fillers. A relatively safe treatment, if carried out by a doctor who has experience with fillers. Ask during your consultation about the possibilities with fillers. Look at fillers for more information about the use of hiyaluronic acid.

Correction of a skewed nose (nasal septum correction)

If the nose is crooked, the surgeon loosens the septum and straightens it. Excess cartilage is removed.

A straight nose by correcting a crooked nose

Correcting a crooked nose or nose with incorrect proportions is a more complicated procedure. The nose may need to be broken and cartilage from other parts of the body (Rib, ears) used for best results.

No more rocking nose with a nose tip correction

With a nose tip correction, for example, you can correct a rocker nose. This procedure can usually be performed through the nostrils so that there is no need to make an incision on the underside of the nose. In this procedure, too, the surgeon moves or removes cartilage.

Nose reduction

This can be done in two ways: a closed technique with an incision on the inside of the nose in the nasal mucosa, or an open technique with an incision in the skin bridge between the nostrils. After the chosen incision, the surgeon will adjust the nasal skeleton according to your wishes. After this, the skin will be replaced and the incisions sutured. You will get tampons in the nostrils and a splint to keep the new shape.

Recovery after rhinoplasty

This depends on the rhinoplasty chosen. A rhinoplasty gives much less pain than an extensive rhinoplasty. After a rhinoplasty, the nose is sensitive, but the pain is generally much less than with the other corrections.
With the larger corrections, the pain is also greater. You get pain medication for this. Most patients suffer from migratory facial pain. In the first week, most patients also suffer from headaches. Swelling and bruising worsen in the first three days after surgery and then slowly diminish again. The swelling and bruising may first subside and then gradually diminish. Keep in mind that the sense of smell temporarily disappears. This recovers after a few days. Two to three follow-up checks are necessary depending on the procedure and your recovery.

Safety by precaution

Our care team will not only help you in advance with your preparations and during your intake interview with the surgeon, but will also guide you after the operation, so that you know what to expect and heal as well and as quickly as possible.
