As a man, do you have too much breast tissue and does this make you insecure? Know that you are not alone. The condition gynecomastia is very common. If we look at the numbers, between 40 and 60 percent of men have this condition which causes their breast tissue to grow bigger. This can result in buying oversized shirts, feeling self-conscious and insecure, and perhaps avoiding situations where the upper body is visible. Every man experiences this differently, although the impact gynecomastia has on life is probably the same. We speak of gynecomastia when the breasts swell and become larger due to the mammary gland or fat. The breast consists of glandular tissue that is firm and thick, and fatty tissue that is soft. The ratio varies from person to person and also from breast to breast.
You may also have too much of both types of tissue. There is also a solution for this for men, called a breast reduction (Gynecomastia surgery).
